History
The Faculty of Agriculture was founded on November 10, 1960, with the assistance of the Kotapraja University of Malang. On July 11, 1961, by a letter from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 258/K/1961, the name of this university was changed to Universitas Brawijaya. The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya (FP-UB) was given state status by the Decree of the Minister of PTIP Number 92 dated August 1, 1962, and starting July 1, 1962, it was under the assistance of Airlangga University, Surabaya. Furthermore, on January 5, 1963, UB was given state status through the Decree of the Minister of PTIP No. 1 of 1963. The Faculty of Agriculture, which was previously under the assistance of Airlangga University, was returned to UB.
Since its establishment, FP-UB had two departments, namely the Department of Agricultural Engineering and the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics until 1974. And in 1975, the division of the department was perfected and adapted to the demands of the needs into five departments, namely the Department of Agronomy, the Department of Soil, the Department of Plant Protection, the Department of Agricultural Technology, and the Department of Agricultural Social Economics.
In 1978 there was a change in the Bachelor of Agriculture Education System from a package system to a semester credit system. The Bachelor of Agriculture program has a load of 144 credits which can be programmed within 4 years. Along with this dynamic, within the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Brawijaya, there was a change in the name of the department. The Department of Agronomy became the Department of Agricultural Cultivation, the Department of Plant Protection or Protection became the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, and the Department of Soil, Social Economics, and Agricultural Technology did not change its name. However, in 1997 the Department of Agricultural Technology became a separate Faculty based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0124/O/1998 dated 26 January 1998 under the name of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology.
In 1984 the Diploma Program in Agriculture and Plantation was established. On March 17, 1990, the Directorate General of Higher Education issued Decree No.14/Dikti/Kep/1990 concerning the establishment of the Diploma Program in Plant Production, which united the Diploma III in Plantation and Diploma III in Agriculture. Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 230/DIKTVKep/1999 dated May 18, 1999, FP-UB has a new study program, namely Diploma Agricultural Agribusiness Study Program. Thus, FA-UB managed three Diploma Study Programs, namely Horticultural Plant Production (formerly Plant Production Study Program), Agribusiness Study Program, and Landscape Architecture Study Program which ran until 2008. Based on the UB Chancellor’s Work Program, Diploma Program managed by FA- UB was closed in 2008 and it is more concentrated on managing the development of the Bachelor, Magister, and Doctoral Programs.
The admissions system for new students in FA-UB changed in 1995. Before 1995, admissions were based on departments (maintained in the fifth semester), then changed to study program-based (Table 1. a).

In 1996 based on instructions from the Chancellor of Brawijaya University. In 1997 in FA-UB a new SP was opened, namely the Plant Breeding Study Program based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education Number: 78/Dikti/Kep/1997. Based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0124/O/1998 dated January 26, 1998, the Department of Agricultural Technology, which since its establishment was in FA-UB, was officially managed separately as the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. So that until the 2013/2014 Academic Year FA-UB has 4 Departments and 2 Study Programs (Table 1. b).

Table 1. b. Accreditation of Departments and Study Programs
In order to respond to the decision of the Director General of Higher Education in 2007 with the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 163/DIKTI/Kep/2007 concerning two study programs of the Faculty of Agriculture namely Agribusiness Study Program and Agrotechnology/Agroecotechnology Study Program, so in 2007 the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Brawijaya (FP-UB) conducted a study program restructuring process. The results of this restructuring were communicated and agreed upon at the Indonesian Agricultural Higher Education Communication Forum (FKPTPI) meeting.
Since the 2008/2009 academic year, FA-UB has managed two Study Programs, namely the Agroecotechnology Study Program and the Agribusiness Study Program. The Agroecotechnology Study Program is the result of a restructuring of five existing study programs, namely the Study Programs of Agronomy, Horticulture, Soil Science, Plant Pests and Diseases, and Plant Breeding. Meanwhile, the new Agribusiness Study Program is a reconstruction of 2 old study programs, namely the Agribusiness/Agricultural Social Economics Study Program and the Agricultural Extension and Communication Study Program. The implementation of the reconstruction of the new study program was supported by the Director General of Higher Education’s Permit No 1787/D/T/2009 dated 05 October 2009, concerning the Change/Merger of Study Programs in the Agriculture sector. The management of the two new study programs is based on the curriculum that has been approved in the decision of the UB Faculty of Agriculture Senate meeting on August 23, 2010.
The study program is led by the study program head, where there are already 2 study program heads on the Bachelor of Agribusiness, namely:

Head of Agribusiness Study Program Period 2009-2016

Head of Agribusiness Study Program Period 2016-2024
&
Head of the Association of Indonesian Agribusiness Study Programs
Period 2019 – 2024
BAGB accreditation was obtained from BAN-PT from A to Excellence on 5 July 2022 to 5 July 2027. In addition, the achievement of the quality of the teaching and learning process at the ASEAN level was recognized by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) from January 2018 until 2023.
Because associations are important in the development of study programs, an association was established at FKTPPI. The use of the association is to establish cooperation in student exchange, scientific development, development of the national curriculum, recognition of LAM accreditation, and so on. In the FKPTPI, IPSAGRI (Association of Indonesian Agribusiness study programs) was formed, and the idea of IPSAGRI emerged during the FKPTPI National Workshop at Padjadjaran University, Bandung in 2019. IPSAGRI is a forum for communication between the Head of the Agribusiness Study Program study, which was established on July 13, 2022, with the Deed of Establishment of the Association of Indonesian Agribusiness Study Programs number: 12 under Notary-PPAT Oktavia Swestiningrum, S.H., M.Kn with Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights No. AHU-01365.AH.02.01 Year 2016. Currently, there are 220 heads of agribusiness study programs from all universities in Indonesia, led by the head of the Agribusiness Study Program FA UB, Dr.Agustina Shinta.
